The second tale shows how Drake earns Batman’s confidence in helping him to take down the mysterious mastermind behind a random killing spree. The first collection of stories by the fantastic team of Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle shows how Tim Drake’s mother dies and how his father is left crippled after they kidnapped by Hattian criminals which Batman puts an end to. 1: Reborn, DC finally puts together a chronological collection of stories that see Tim Drake becoming Robin and they are great. This made him extremely relatable and probably the main reason he was so popular. He wasn’t another Orphan that Batman found and trained, he was a fan of Batman himself and sought out the job of Robin. Sure it has a lot to do with the fact that he’s the Robin I grew up with, and also he benefitted from getting his own solo series which allowed the writers to give him more character than the others, but the main reason he worked so well was the concept. For me, Tim Drake will always be the best Robin.
